"I am interested in the visual languages used to depict the world and ideas. For this project I apropriated the syntax of subway maps to depict a well known painting by Manet. In doing so, an aesthetic commonly reserved for visualizing abstractly streets, train lines, stations and destinations, who's primary function is pragmatism, fuses with a museum icon. High art meets everyday function." |
